review: Hylandia Shangri La (Part I)
If there is one hotel on the earth that I will always return in a heartbeat then the Hylandia would be it.
Hylandia was one of Shangri La properties. The only reason I could think of why this hotel was named Hylandia was probably that the city was called Shangri La, the paradise. We booked it using best rate guarantee which brought the rate down to CNY 980 (EUR 130 instead of 180) per night. It included breakfast and access to the Shambhala Lounge that opened from 5-7pm every day offering small snacks and beverages.
We were picked up from the airport with the complimentary shuttle service. It was strange to see empty streets and houses covered in glass buildings but at the same time so exciting. The Hylandia located away from old town but very walkable to many sightseeings.
As the main door remained open all time, the temperature in the lobby could be equal the one from the fridge. I was so happy to be offered a warm cup of ginger tea during check-in.
Our Executive Garden room was on the second floor. While it was not as lavish looking as most of Shangri La hotels in major cities, it just felt so comfortable and homey. As a Golden Circle Jade member, I had chosen instant noodles as my welcome gift. The room had an outdoor terrace, which we rarely used.
In part II, I will cover the activity and the F&B at the hotel. Here are some more pictures of the public area. Cheers!
