review: Moxy Hotel Vienna Airport
Our flight to Helsinki was not until 11 am the next day but we decided to spend the night at the Moxy Vienna airport as the ride from Salzburg to Vienna took more than 3 hours and a bit more sleep would not hurt. I booked directly with Marriott.com for EUR 90 for so-called Moxy Sleeper (standard room).
Westbahn to Vienna was usually cheaper than Railjet EUR 26,50 vs 34,50+. Just it only took you until Westbahnhof while with Railjet, one could get to Hauptbahnhof or even the airport. From Westbahnhof, we continued with the regional train to the airport.
The Moxy hotel was located just 10 minutes walk from the main terminal. This cubic building could be seen from far away by its distinct colour stripes white, black and pink.
Check-in was hectic but we got our key in no time as the room had already been paid and checked in online. We received the family room as an upgrade due to my platinum status with Marriott and two voucher for a cocktail.
The suite was twice the size of a standard room. It was very basic yet comfortable. I loved the "ultramodern" TV which connected directly to smartphone or laptop for an HDMI-cable-free Netflix.
The Moxy did well with the design of the public areas. It felt very cosy to hang around and have a drink. Unfortunately, the cocktails we had tasted like cherry juice diluted with water.
The gym was small but had decent equipment.
In the morning, we did not partake at the breakfast buffet. It looked quite tasty.
Overall, the Moxy was a convenient option for a short stay at the airport.
